Keep a useful reference before your webinar replay expires

Your paid webinar replay is about to expire, but you’ll need the explanation when you put it into practice. If recording and retention are allowed, Rebrief for Mac can capture the replay’s audio and turn it into a transcript and notes afterward. Check those notes, then keep the passage you’ll want to hear again. Capture must happen while you still have access; Rebrief cannot recover an expired replay.

Decide what you need to keep

Start with the question that will bring you back to the webinar. Perhaps you need the presenter’s explanation of a method, the conditions attached to a recommendation, or the steps they talked through. Knowing which part matters helps you check whether your saved material will be enough.

Look for an official recording download, transcript, or handout first. If a permitted download already contains the explanation, use it. When only the replay has what you need, check the organizer’s rules on recording and keeping a personal copy after access ends. Obtain any required permission; paying for access does not itself settle that question. If copying is restricted, use the permitted materials and your own notes, or ask for more time.

Find the deadline, including its time zone, and leave time to play the material and check the result. Rebrief records what plays on your Mac; it cannot download the session from its link. If time is short, prioritize the allowed explanation you need, including enough of the discussion around it to understand the answer.

Record while you watch the replay

Open the replay and start Rebrief manually from the menu bar before you play it. Listening to a webinar won’t trigger automatic recording. Begin with a short permitted passage, stop, and listen to the saved audio to confirm that the presenter’s voice is there. If it’s missing, check the recording permission and setup in Rebrief support before continuing.

Rebrief needs an Apple Silicon Mac with macOS 15 or later; finish its initial setup before settling in to watch. Free recordings stop at 15 minutes, so get the one-time paid unlock before recording a longer session. Once your short check works, return to the starting point and begin a fresh recording for the material you want.

Let Rebrief capture the explanation while you follow it. You can jot down topics to revisit without trying to type every sentence. Keep the Mac awake and the replay playing, and close other audio sources so they don’t interrupt the saved talk.

Include the lead-in and any follow-up that changes the answer. A recommendation might apply only to the example on screen, or the presenter might correct a number a moment later. Those surrounding sentences belong in your reference too.

Make the notes useful for the next time you need them

After you stop recording, Rebrief transcribes the audio and produces notes on your Mac. Use the key points to find the explanation you came for, then check that part of the transcript against the recording. Rebrief’s notes are generated after transcription, so allow processing to finish before doing this review.

Keep a short personal note that answers your original question. Include the conditions that affect how you’ll use the advice, and mark anything you still need to check. Pay particular attention to numbers and specialist terms: a readable sentence can still contain the wrong word.

Save the webinar’s original title and event date with that note, along with the position of the explanation in your recording. If you captured only part of the replay, say where that section starts in the original. This prevents two different sets of timestamps from becoming confusing later.

Check for missing visual information while the page is still available. Rebrief saves audio, so “use the figures on this slide” won’t give you the figures unless the presenter reads them aloud. Keep any permitted slides or worksheet separately and note the relevant page. If the explanation depends on an unspoken demonstration, request an authorized video copy or extended access.

Find the answer after closing the webinar page

Close the replay page before the deadline and try finding your explanation in Rebrief. Ask a question such as “What did the presenter say about choosing a starting point?” using the topic you actually need. Ask includes source passages that open the relevant recording moment. Check that the passage belongs to the right webinar and listen around it before relying on the answer.

If the answer misses the point, return to the recording position in your personal note. Listen for the exact advice and its qualification. The goal is to have an explanation you can check when you use it, even after the original page is gone.

For a separate reference, save the webinar audio, export its transcript, and copy the notes using Rebrief’s export options. Keep your corrected personal note alongside them. Open the saved audio and text to confirm that you have the explanation, not just a link back to the replay.

Finish by checking the part you’re most likely to need again. If the audio, a condition, or a supporting worksheet is missing, you still have time to return to the permitted replay before access closes.
