Does Rebrief join my Zoom or Teams call?
No. It records what your Mac plays and what your microphone hears. No participant, no join sound, nothing for anyone else to install.
Do I have to tell the other people that I am recording?
Rebrief does not announce itself, so that is your decision. In many places it is the law, so check the rules where you are.
Is my audio uploaded anywhere?
No. Recording, transcription, notes and answers all run on your Mac. Only the one-time model downloads and usage statistics you can switch off use the network.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the models have downloaded.
Which meeting apps does it work with?
All of them: Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Slack, FaceTime, Webex, Discord, WhatsApp and any browser tab.
Does it record other sounds on my Mac?
Yes. It records everything your Mac plays, including notification sounds. That is why it needs no integration with the meeting app.
Is there a recording time limit?
Each recording stops after eight hours, or before your Mac goes to sleep.
Can I use my meetings with ChatGPT or Claude?
Yes, through the Model Context Protocol. It is off until you turn it on in Settings, it runs from your Mac, and a connected tool can only read your meetings.
Which languages can it transcribe?
99 languages, detected automatically on each side of the call.
How long does transcription take?
It depends on the meeting length and your Mac. It runs after the call, and you can start a new recording while it works.
What does Rebrief not do?
It is not a calendar assistant, a cloud service with a team workspace, a live assistant that transcribes during the call, or a video recorder. It records audio on your Mac and works on it after the call.
Does it record video?
No. Audio only: your microphone and the call, as two tracks.
Can I use it on an Intel Mac?
No. Rebrief requires Apple Silicon and macOS 15 or later.
Is there a subscription?
No. Recordings up to 15 minutes are free and complete. One purchase removes the limit. No account, no seat.
Can I get my data out?
Yes. Export the transcript as Markdown, plain text, SRT or WebVTT, plus both audio tracks. Copy meeting notes as Markdown.
How is this different from a cloud notetaker?
Most notetakers join your call as a bot, upload the audio to their servers, and bill per seat every month. Rebrief adds nothing to the call, keeps every recording on your Mac, and is bought once.
